Starting 2012 au natural. Corby has been reading about all the “stuff” that goes into our food and has determined we need to buy fresh. We are definitely foodies and eat and try everything. I like to believe that is the strongest of the thousand of things we have in common.
Corby in his true research fashion googled it up and found a farm right by our house that sells grass fed beef, chicken and raw milk, etc. Not a huge fan of the raw milk. It tastes like cream, even though it doesn’t have all the “stuff” that is not good for you. There is no way something that leaves a fat film in your mouth is good for you ![]()
The beef was amazing and we now own the back half of a cow.
I will post again in a few months with a negative or positive result in body fat.
Morning breakfast is now going to consist of farm fresh chicken sausage all spiced up the way Corby knows best mixed in with egg beaters.
Oh and thanks again grandma for the mixer it sure has come in handy!
Last minute decision to take the girls to The Canyons for NYE. Cute studio room right at the base…perfect!
After dinner at our fav Mexican spot Loco Lizard we went back for a front row seat to the fireworks show. We tried really hard but didn’t quite make it to midnight. Regardless, it was a great family date night.
Marlee is picking up skiing nicely and in the meantime mom and dad get a nice workout doing snow plows all day.
Ashlee is picking up the turns great and looks good cruisin down the hill.
Overall great ending to a great year, can’t wait for what 2012 brings.
So last night we made sugar cookies and the house looked like a flour storm attacked the house.
To bring things down a little we did chocolate covered candy canes and pretzels with sprinkles. Not even close to as messy as last night and when we added margaritas things…well…are just more fun. For Corby and I anyway.
Grandma Del helped out and I think enjoyed it. Once all the chocolate dries we are wrapping everything up in cute Christmas trimmings and giving to the neighbors and family members.
I just love Christmas.
I did not have the fortunate pleasure of getting to know Corby’s grandparents in their prime, but I love hearing all about them. My grandparents died when I was so little I didn’t get to keep those memories. So it’s fun to be able to hear all about how great they were.
Aunt Donna decided to stay in their house after they passed and as we were helping her clean up and go through old boxes this amazing retro KitchenAid mixer immediately caught my eye.
People just don’t cook or bake like back in the day and no one had any interest in adding that to their piles. So under my breathe I asked Corby if no one wants this we should take it home and try to create these memories with our kids.
So today we have Zucchini bread and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies on the agenda. Excited to share the pics afterwards (that is if we can figure put how to use it)
When Ashlee and I first moved in with Corb in 2005 I let her decide what the Christmas “theme” would be. At the time her favorite color was purple.
This year I wanted to return to a more traditional red, silver, and green palette. I was so excited with the decorations I found we set up all the Christmas decor two weeks before Thanksgiving.
Ash even said she wants to be just as surprised as Marlee.
Christmas is truly for the kids and nothing brings me more happiness then having my loved ones rip open their presents in sheer joy, completely spoiling them, and giving them the magic that Santa Claus represents.
Marlee LOVES being a princess. This is the absolute first thing she HAS to do ever day when she comes home. Little matching plastic heels and all. She would sleep in them if we let her. This is accompanied with make up, a purse, and of course a girl can’t leave the house without lip gloss.
Everytime without fail she has to pose and say “look at me, I am so cute”.
I of course completely support the inner princess.
Halloween is a holiday where you can play pretend and be anyone be silly and ask for as much candy as you want. Of course it’s my fav.
This is year two where Corb and I have had 30-40 teenagers dancing, eating and running around the house. We try hard to be the “cool” parents but honestly I would rather be watching over than worrying about her elsewhere.
I am no Martha but I must say it turned out pretty damn cute!!! Plus it was so fun doing it.
